The Boston Uprising have made a management switch in the middle of the Overwatch League season. The team made the announcement today that it would be parting ways with Chris “HuK” Loranger, who had served as general manager and president for the past five years. The Uprising also revealed they would shuffle their roster for the best outcome going forward.

Since the inception of the Boston Uprising in the latter half of 2017, HuK has served as the team’s general manager as well as president of gaming. Because of his time spent as both a commentator and a professional StarCraft II player, he has been deeply ingrained in the esports community for a considerable amount of time.

In his time with the franchise, HuK has taken the Uprising through dozens of changes over the course of the five years that the Overwatch League has been in existence. He has played a role in each and every one of the team’s victories and defeats, from a historic winning streak in the first season all the way up to the current losing streak that the team is on. HuK has remained unwavering in his commitment to the Uprising despite the many scandals the franchise has experienced over the years.

In a statement that was published on Boston Uprising’s official Twitter page, the organization made known that “competitive viability” was one of the reasons for the decision to let go of Huk. The Uprising currently have a record of 3-6 for the season and are in the bottom section of the league standings. They are, however, ranked above teams from the West Region that have only one win to their names, as well as the Vancouver Titans, who are yet to secure a win.

The press release read:

”Effective today the Boston Uprising have decided to part ways with President & General Manager Chris “Huk” Loranger. Chris has been the face of the Boston Uprising since inception and we are grateful for this contributions to the team. While this was a difficult decision, the Boston Uprising and Oxygen ESports hold competitive viability as our north star and believe change is best for the long-term, direction of the organization. We wish Chris all the best in his future endeavors.

“

Moving forward, Assistant General Manager Vytis “Mineral” Lasaitis, will operate as Interim GM as we look to readdress our roster and build for the future.

“

To our fans, thank you for your continued supports. Boston is the city of champions and we strive to put a product on the field that makes our fans proud.”
