Dzhami “Jame” Ali has been awarded the Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major MVP after leading Outsiders to their first-ever Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major title.? ?

As the whole world witnessed the Russian team lift the Rio Major trophy at the Jeunesse Arena in Brazil with US$500,000 in prize money, the AWPer took to the stage to receive his first-ever MVP award.? ?

?In the grand final, Jame’s calls for Outsiders were decisive and largely effective. He was also one of the best players in the tournament on an individual basis, averaging a 1.30 rating throughout the Legends Stage and the Champions Stage.

The in-game leader’s overall rating was the third-best record in the entirety of the tournament. However, he led in several other metrics, including a K/D difference of +98 and a tournament-low death per round ratio of 0.46. He also topped the board on total AWP kills with 168, posting the most kills per round by an AWP (0.54) and KAST (79.6 percent).?

?Heading into the grand finals, Outsiders’ 19-year-old boy wonder Pyotr “fame” Bolyshev and Heroics stars Casper “cadiaN” M?ller and Martin “stavn” Lund were favorites to win the top individual award at the IEM Rio Major. ?Upon receiving his award, Jame thanked his teammates for riding out with him and also appreciated the fans for their continuous support.

He also took to his Twitter page to react to the championship title win and his MVP award: “We made it, thank you for your support, it means a lot to me.”

Jame was not the only standout for Outsiders in the grand final. Evgeniy “FL1T” Lebedev recorded the most kills in the series with 52, leaving fame in second place (44) and Jame in third (37).?

?Since Jame’s professional CS:GO career started in 2017, the IEM Rio Major MVP award is the greatest individual honour he has received. In 2021, HLTV pegged the Russian as the 10th-best player in the world, the highest he has been ranked.? ?He was also awarded by HLTV the MVP title of the BLAST Pro Series Moscow 2019 and the cs_summit 7 in 2021.

When it comes to the best “Junglers” in North America, it would be hard to come by anyone who can compare to the master of the forest, and Cloud9 Jungler Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen.

“Svenskeren” house been a household name around the League of Legends (LOL) competitive scene for over eight years. Making is debut on the LOL eSports scene in Europe in 2011, his huge potential was immediately apparent and did not go unnoticed by the United Staes (US) esports scene.

In his professional career Svenskeren has lined up for several teams, yet the most notable have been Ninjas in Pyjamas, SK Gaming, Team SoloMid and now Cloud9.

Out of the four, however, it was the two North American stops which brought him worldwide fame where he emerged as one of the best “Junglers” in the world, and he has continued to hold that unofficial mantle now for some years

In the 2019 season alone, his performances in LCS were so impressive, the Danish veteran won the reward for LCS Summer Split MVP and a spot in the 2019 LCS Summer All-Pro Team despite playing in only 79% of the summer split matches.

The 2019 League of Legends Championships Series (LCS) Summer Split was truly a breathtaking split for Svenskeren who unequivocally dominated his role as Jungler to the exten that mo other Jungler came close him, finishing in the top five in all five major Jungle statistics.

What is even more impressive than his MVP reward is the fact Svenskeren has managed to be on top of his game for almost a decade now. Ever since he joined his first “big” team, the Copenhagen Wolves back in 2012; his skills have continued to mature and improve. While others who have been on the LOL esports competitions scene might become jaded or fade from their peaks, Svenskeren is only getting better with each passing year.

It’s not only his aggressive playing style and formidable presence in the jungle that make Svenskeren one of the best. He has demonstrated time and time again high resistance to meta changes, which is a skill only the best professional League of Legends players possess.

Cloud9’s acquisition of Svenskeren has proven a godsend for the team who have used Svenskeren as the main driving force behind their success this LCS split, as well as their impressive run in 2018 Worlds. And all things considered, he will surely continue playing a crucial role in C9loud9’s immediate future as well.

By winning the MVP this summer split, Svenskeren also became Cloud9’s first-ever LCS regular season MVP recipient, further cementing his name as one of the legends of one of the most respected LoL organizations in the world.

Betting Predictions for June 17

MVP vs. Gen.G

Both teams have impressed on their debuts this split, and this match has the potential to be the sleeper funfest of this week. It’s a clash of two styles and two teams who have found their own ways to work in the new meta, and it will be a blast to see which strategy works better.

MVP have seemingly decided to dive heads-in into the craziness, steamrolling bbq with the infamous Yi/Taric duo, and then doing the same with a mid lane Irelia. Gen.G, on the other hand are sticking to the classic compositions, paired with improved early game activity. They also have a very smart coaching staff that should help them escape MVP’s drafting mind games. Individually, with Crown out and Fly in for the time being, Gen.G is unquestionably better than MVP, and the team that took down Kingzone could extend their good start with a win in this match as well.

Chance of winning: MVP 25%, GEN 75%
Betting prediction: Gen.G to win, paying -333.33 at BetOnline.

Jin Air Green Wings vs. Hanwha Life Esports

The first week of LCK ends with a match of two mid-tier teams from last split, always above the bottom feeders but never quite there with the top contenders. Jin Air and Hanwha Life both suffered defeats in their first matches, and a win here should be a must for them if they don’t want to fall behind in the playoff race at the very beginning.

Hanwha’s top laner Lindarang is probably the most improved LCK player since the season started, and he’s one of the rare players showing that it is still possible to carry the game from top lane. A good plan and a good performance from him and Lava could give them an edge in this extremely close matchup, but Jin Air certainly have their chances if Grace and Teddy show up big. (HLE 55%, JAG 45%)

Chance of winning: HLE 55%, JAG 45%
Betting prediction: Jin Air Green Wings to win, paying +110 at BetOnline.

Betting Predictions for June 14

Hanwha Life Esports vs. bbq Olivers

Hanwha will be playing their second match of the split against everyone’s favourite bottom team. A victory against bbq is a must for any team wishing to get into playoffs, and HLE are surely eyeing that gauntlet run.

Hanwha’s advantages in this matchup are easily noticeable right off the bat. SeongHwan developed greatly over the last split and will surely try to control bbq’s shaky jungler Bless, and the same goes for Lindarang, who can hold his own against the volatile Crazy. The Olivers will likely focus their attention on their mid laner Tempt, who will try to get an early lead against Lava. It probably won’t be enough, though, as Hanhwa are a much more composed and disciplined team, who should be able to take the win home.

Betting prediction: Hanwha Life Esports to win, paying -200 at BetOnline.

MVP vs. Griffin

MVP’s fanbase will be eagerly awaiting this match, where their favourite team will try to get back at Griffin for destroying them in Promotions a month ago. The rookie squad will be looking to repeat that performance, and gather some confidence before facing the true heavyweights.

Last time MVP and Griffin played against each other, it ended in a 3-1 win for the then-Challenger squad, after a stunning performance by their bot laners Viper and Lehends. It’s not often that a BO5 series in Korean League of Legends is won by raw talent, but Griffin made it work in a very impressive manner. This should be a good way to see if Griffin are a future top team: if they can consistently beat mediocre line-ups like MVP now, who knows what we might see from these guys in a year or two.

Betting prediction: Griffin to win, paying -188.68 at BetOnline.

LCK is finally returning! After a two-month long pause, the strongest LoL league in the world is kicking off again, with the Summer Split starting on June 12th. The contenders we’ll be watching this summer are somewhat different, as Kongdoo Monster were relegated by the young upstarts from team Griffin. In other news, the ROX Tigers roster was acquired by a newly formed organisation called Hanwha Life Esports, while the reigning world champions (previously known as Samsung Galaxy and KSV eSports) went through another re-branding, and will play under the name Gen.G.

Let’s take a look at the opening matches!

Betting Predictions for June 12

bbq Olivers vs. MVP

Two teams that were struggling to stay afloat over the entire Spring Split will play the starting match, and will be looking to get a good result in hopes of doing better than last time. There haven’t been any important roster changes in either team, aside from bbq adding a substitute ADC to help Ghost overcome his pressure issues, and MVP’s Beyond changing names to Yondu.

Even though the teams may seem equally “bad”, MVP still haven’t lost to bbq in over a year and a half. MVP’s philosophy of living and dying as a team has always worked well against the disorganized Olivers, and their strongest player Pilot may have a field day in the bot lane if Ghost or even the young Aries don’t perform up to the highest level. bbq might look for an advantage in the top lane, where MVP’s ADD had been struggling, but overall, MVP have a slightly better chance of starting the campaign with a win.

Result: 2-0 to MVP

Griffin vs. Hanwha Life Esports

At last we get to see Griffin play at the big stage. The full-rookie squad, touted by analysts as one of the most talented new line-ups to ever appear in Korea, will be facing the Hanwha Life squad, who had a decent Spring Split as ROX Tigers and are surely feeling good about the future.

What HLE showed last split was how impressive a one-strategy team can look, if they know how to play their one strategy. SeongHwan’s playmaking, Lava’s relentless aggression and Sangyoon’s safe positioning were enough to win them games against most weaker teams, and sometimes even to surprise the top dogs. However, I think Griffin is the team to watch here. The new kids on the block are yet to lose a series in 2018, with a phenomenal 33-3 game record in Challengers and Promotions, and that just shows that they might be looking for much more than just surviving in the LCK. They just looked too good this year to not be considered favourites against Hanwha.

Betting prediction: Griffin to win, paying +110 at BetOnline.

Kingzone DragonX vs. Jin Air Green Wings

Saturday, February 10, 3am EST / 8am GMT

Kingzone DragonX is about due for an upset and Jin Air Green Wings are the team to do it.

With a creep up the leaderboards and some historic record-breaking wins over SK Telecom T1 and other giants, Jin Air have made great picks and displayed on-point team comps that make us confident they’ll bring their A-game this Friday.

Both midlaner Lee ‘Grace’ Chanju and ADC Park ‘Teddy’ Jin-sung have dominated as roamers and shotcallers in recent weeks to bring the team in the same high regard as KDX and KSV, and bottom-laner Ji-min ‘Wraith’ Kwon has decisively shut out botlane threats time and time again.

Kingzone jungler Han ‘Peanut’ and support Kang ‘GorillA’ Beom-hyeon are their biggest threats in the KDA department, but so long as Wraith can free up Grace and Teddy to split-push, we’re confident they stand a great chance here.

Jin Air Green Wings to beat Kingzone DragonX: +200 ($3.00) at Bovada.lv

BBQ Olivers vs. MVP

Saturday, February 10, 6am EST / 11am GMT

BBQ Olivers showed some improvement last week, unexpectedly taking KSV Esports down to the wire with smart late-game team compositions and an overtime performance from AD carry Yongjun ‘Ghost’ Jang’s Kog’Maw, which saw him rack up a 7/0/2 KDA (kills/deaths/assists).

Properly taking advantage of a substantial gold lead remains BBQ’s main problem in this series, but we think they’ll have learned their lesson in time for their clash against the weakest team in the LCK.

They might not even need too, given the frankly laughable 1 – 5 performance MVP has put on so far, practically rolling over to KSV last week at every teamfight or objective struggle.

Expect another bloodbath in favour of BBQ Olivers here.

BBQ Olivers to beat MVP: -250 ($1.40) at Bovada.lv

SK Telecom T1 vs. KSV Esports

Sunday, February 11, 3am EST / 8am GMT

SK Telecom T1 has got to be the most disappointing LCK roster this series.

Fresh off their 2-0 sweep at the hands of Afreeca Freecs and their embarrassing loss to the equally unimpressive MVP, this is nowhere near the same world champion team fans rooted for last year.

KSV are clearly in top form with superior team compositions and individual player laning.

They won’t even need their full roster to secure this win if top laner Lee ‘CuVee’ Seong-jin continues to shut out his opponents as brutally as he managed last weekend with BBQ.

SK Telecom T1 to beat KSV Esports: -250 ($1.40) at Bovada.lv

KT Rolster vs. Kongdoo Monster

Sunday, February 11, 6am EST / 11am GMT

Aside from some account sharing drama with midlaner Cho ‘Mata’ Se-hyeong, KT Rolster have played consistently great LoL to breathe down the necks of both Kingzone DragonX and KSV Esports in third place.

Kongdoo delivered a great upset over KSV but they were categorically outmatched in the midlane and bot lane by Jin Air Green Wings last week – to an embarrassing extent.

Their top laner Kim ‘Roach’ Kang-hui seems to have run out of steam and against KT’s Song ‘Smeb’ Kyung-ho, we’re expecting some fairly straightforward teamfights here.

KT Rolster to beat Kongdoo Monster: -500 ($1.20) at Bovada.lv

]]>
The 2018 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) tournament is set to start this week with the opening LCK Spring Split, and the Koreans always know how to kick off on an amazing season of high-level LoL play for the ever-eager international audience.

As the premier League of Legends esports league in Korea, LCK features 10 professional LoL teams battling every other opponent twice over the course of the Spring Season.

With the tournament’s double round robin, Bo3 (Best of 3) match format still intact compared to rival leagues which have experienced major revamps to their structure in 2018, the competition for the LCK will continue to duke it out in significantly longer matches than their EU and NA counterparts, though equally hard-fought and well-earned.

This ranked season, LCK players will be playing in one of the most diverse metas in LoL history with the introduction of the new rune system, which will allow champions across all types to become viable options for each role, instead of whole sub-classes being ignored due to the lack of an item or ability to pull off a certain strategy. The only champions that will continue to be passed over in the LCK will be those that are individually weak.

Here are our best bet picks and predictions for Week 1 of the 2018 LCK Spring Split.

LCK Spring Split – Parlay of the Week with Bovada.lv

  • Kingzone DragonX to beat KSV Esports: -120
  • MVP to beat Kongdoo Monster: -200
  • KT Rolster to beat Afreeca Freecs 2 – 0: -190
  • SK Telecom T1 to beat ROX Tigers: -800

Kingzone DragonX vs. KSV Esports

Game 1, Tuesday, January 16 3am EST / 8am GMT

Kingzone DragonX (formerly Longzhu Gaming) absolutely smashed the competition in last year’s LCK regular season and playoff, with a well deserved first place standing in each. Meanwhile, KSV Esports (formerly Samsung Galaxy) floundered into third and fourth place, respectively, before finding late redemption with their Summoner’s Cup victory late last year.

Longzhu’s shock loss at last year’s World Championships hurt, but they have been a well-oiled team from the very beginning and they will only continue to improve their amazing upper-lane play with the newly formed Kingzone brand. New managing coach Yeon ‘Sin’ Hyeong-mo, a former pro jungler known for his stellar Lee-Sin play, will be able to guide the re-united trio of fellow jungler Han ‘Peanut’ Wang-ho, AD’er Kim ‘PraY’ Jong-in and support Kang ‘GorrilA’ Beom-hyeon and put their well-proven team synergy to proper effect.

The Kingzone line-up overall looks too powerful in the current meta to drop their first-match back – we’re predicting a hard-fought, highly entertaining opening match.

Kingzone DragonX to beat KSV Esports: -120 at Bovada.lv

MVP vs. Kongdoo Monster

Game 2, Tuesday, January 16 from 5am EST / 11am GMT

Perhaps the least exciting match-up in the first week, both MVP and Kongdoo Monster are at the bottom of the pack when compared to their competitors in the Spring Split. MVP’s roster has been together for many years with team synergy on display whenever they play, but their predictability and weak individual top-laners landed them in 8th place last year.

Meanwhile, Kongdoo finished dead last in the 2017 Spring Split, before promptly getting relegated back to challengers series with a lucky qualifiers round win to return to the LCK after the summer split. Any promise they showed was squashed when they were demolished by a challengers team at the KeSPA Cup to become the first team eliminated.

With a lack of leadership on both sides, we still feel MVP is the better pick based on Jeong “Max” Jong-bin’s support carries and MVP’s occasional ability to come-back in the late game.

MVP to beat Kongdoo Monster: -200 at Bovada.lv

kt Rolster vs. Afreeca Freecs

Game 3, Tuesday, January 17 from 3am EST / 8am GMT

KT Rolster had one of the best rosters last-year, but individual talent means nothing if the team can’t synergise. They secured second place in the regular season and third in the playoffs, always losing to KSV (Samsung Galaxy) or SKT whenever they needed the win. For their sloppiness, they didn’t make it to World Championships for a shot at the Summoner’s Cup, despite having the super-star talent on board that should have got them there.

While the head coach departed, KT’s roster mostly stays the same this year and the team has genuinely worked on their composition as a unit while adding Lee ‘Rush’ Yoon-jae and Son ‘UcaL’ Woo-hyeon to bolster their ranks. Their recent performance in scrims and the KeSPA Cup seem to indicate the changes have worked for them, which we think will give them the momentum they need to crush the middling Afreea Freecs in their first match-up for the season and live up to the favourite reputation their line-up once held.

KT Rolster to beat Afreeca Freecs 2 – 0: -190 at Bovada.lv

SK Telecom T1 vs. ROX Tigers

Game 4, Tuesday, January 17 from 5am EST /11am GMT

SK Telecom T1 secured second place in last year’s LCK play-offs, MSI Champions and Worlds, with some inconsistent bottom-lane play (not to mention lack of team-work) from Bae ‘Bang’ Jun-sik and Lee ‘Wolf’ Jae-wan letting them down during the summer split. The previous six-man roster strategy didn’t exactly work as smoothly as intended, either. While this year’s meta isn’t as favourable to SKT’s marco tactics, which allowed them to tank most of the damage and start dominating over-confident opponents in the late-game, a few of their players like Bang have already been seen ironing out their early-game aggro in solo queue to work on their previous weaknesses.

Combined with the fresh additions of Park ‘Jungle’ Beom-chan, Lee ‘Effort’ Sang-ho and Park ‘Thal Kwon-hyuk, their top-lane will wreck ROX Tigers’ Lindarang, a weaker replacement player for the retirement of Park “Shy” Sang-myeon, their most competitive player in the past. While other teams improved their rosters or covered major departures in the off-season, it appears a little too late for ROX to do the same.
