G2 Esports had an interesting split. They looked like they could be very good at times, but as the season went on, we also got to see their weaknesses show up, giving us a better idea of what we can expect from G2 long-term.
From what we have learned about this team, G2’s bottom lane is their biggest weakness, and a lot of the team’s success will come down to the performances of top laner Sergen “Broken Blade” ?elik and mid laner Rasmus “caPs” Borregaard Winther. Jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski is still good, but he won’t be the carry player for this team and instead serve as a support for caPs and Brokenblade, and someone to help his bottom lane survive the laning phase.
Stylistically, this is a perfect match for Fnatic, who, unlike G2, have a very strong bottom lane. Support Zdravets “Hylissang” Iliev Galabov and ADC Elias “Upset” Lipp are easily the best European bottom lane duo, and we already know what they can achieve against G2 from their regular-season meetings. That’s not to say that Fnatic are weak elsewhere, but the bottom lane will be their biggest advantage over G2 Esports for this LoL clash specifically.
There’s a good reason why Fnatic are $1.40 favourites for this match, and we don’t see a problem with that offer. Admittedly, Fnatic are more than capable of shooting themselves in the foot, but they have better drafts and are solid in the right areas to make life difficult for G2 Esports.
We could see G2 win one map, but this series is Fnatic’s to lose.
