FlyQuest have announced the appointment of Brian Anderson as their new Chief Executive Officer.
“Esports organization and North American League Championship Series (LCS) franchisee, FlyQuest, today announced that Brian Anderson, former co-CEO of Beastcoast Gaming, has been named Chief Executive Officer of FlyQuest,” the orgqnization said in a press release.
“As CEO, Anderson will work closely with FlyQuest’s newly appointed President and Chief Gaming Officer Chris ‘PapaSmithy’ Smith to grow the organization from both a competitive and commercial standpoint, while continuing to uphold FlyQuest’s mission-driven culture.”
Anderson, who was formerly the co-CEO of fellow North American franchise beastcoast, replaces FlyQuest’s former CEO, Micheal Choi, who had been with the organization since 2019 but was only promoted to the CEO position in June. The franchise was also recently acquired by the owners of the NHL’s Florida Panthers, the Viola family.
Anderson joined beastcoast in 2019. There, he first served as the organization’s CFO and President before being promoted to co-CEO, a position he stayed in the rest of his time with the franchise. Prior to his career in esports, Anderson worked in investment banking and finance, holding multiple positions.
The owner of FlyQuest, Michael Viola, commented on Anderson’s appointment, speaking about his experience being a plus for the franchise.
“Brian’s experience building an esports organization will be beneficial in growing and developing FlyQuest’s business and competitive operations,” Viola said.
“His passion for the space, and deep understanding of the community, will have an immediate impact on the franchise and will resonate with our staff, players, and fans alike. We are thrilled to have Brian on board.”
Anderson also reacted to his recruitment by FlyQuest saying:
“Huge Career Update!!!
“I am beyond excited to announce that I am joining FlyQuest Sports as their new CEO.
“As many of you know, I have been a League of Legends player since high school and have been obsessed with the pro scene since I started playing the game ten years ago. Running an LCS team has always been a dream for me, and I can’t wait to get started helping to grow this team and brand.
“FlyQuest is an (sic) special org with a unique message that I am proud to steward into 2023 and beyond. I’ll be moving to LA in early 2023 and would love to reconnect with all my Southern California mutuals! Let’s go FlyQuest!
“I’d also like to thank the whole beastcoast family for their support and trust in me over the last three and a half years. Beastcoast and Dota 2 will always have a special place in my heart and if it wasn’t for the opportunity and trust that Grant Zinn gave me, I wouldn’t be making this announcement today. I will always be a Beastcoast fan.”
